Today with the lead of senior members Salad Queen and Crinny, CAF joined forces with another cycling house in Boulder to throw down some sick winter training. With the temp just above 30, and yesterday's snowstorm gone leaving Boulder with about 4 inches, we headed out on the mountain bikes to scientifically determine the conditions of the local trails. Our first stop on the way out of town was a local sledding hill. There some nice young kids enjoying the morning until the posy pulled up and decided to ride up the hill and descend taking some of the snow jumps on the way. The hill was quickly cleared and the kids watched on as we gracefully showed some snow riding skills (see videos in album). Then after riding some nice snow pack for awhile, we traversed a ledge into a nice 40mph wind, complete with blowing snow. I think everyone was grinning the whole way. then we tried riding some flat trails south of the city, only to find too many drifts to get anywhere, so we looked west down to the cow pastures. They looked nice and clear. I pointed the direction and Crinny took the lead down a nice rocky drop and into a free-ride of the pastures. The ride was nicely rounded off with a few demonstrations of how to dismount your bike quickly (see videos in photo album). All in all just another day in paradise.
